Roadtrippin'

Wow! What a trip we just had! Just to get things started, here are the stats:

We were gone exactly 7 weeks and 1 day (that's 50 days)
We spent 84 hours in the car (just traveling between destinations)
We logged just over 5,000 miles (that's 4,030 miles just traveling from state to state!)
We traveled between 8 states (California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Oregon)

Please, don't ask us about the gas bill!!!

The boys did great in the car...Here are some typical snapshots:

Sleeping at the same time!!!

Yes, both pretty happy!
Here is a little overview of the itinerary we had this summer.  We started off in Bishop visiting Ricky for a couple days.  Highlights include a home cooked meal, rock climbing for the boys, a trip to Crowley Lake, and meeting Ricky's girlfriend, Anne!

From there, we drove to Cedar City, Utah where we met up with the Scofield's + Jalin, stayed the night, and caravaned to Page, Arizona.
This was the long day in the car! 10 hours and only 2 stops!

Breakfast before picking up the houseboat.
The next morning we got on a houseboat at Lake Powell for a week.  Highlights of our houseboat trip include striper boils and catching 8 different types of fish, slide nights, knee boarding, relaxing, and hiking.

Abby wasn't too excited to be heading back:

We had so much fun at Powell that we decided to stay and boat/tent camp an extra two nights with Ricky and Anne. Let's just say it was a little hot and we were doing everything to stay out of the sun!

After Powell, we headed to Provo to visit the Standefer Family.  We enjoyed taking the boys to the Provo tubes, going out for an adult night at Bombay house with CJ and Char, visiting the Bean Museum, and having a lunch date at the doctor's office with the family. From there, we drove to Grand Junction where we saw Dean Paul.  Dean loved meeting Caleb and even danced with him a bit!  He rode his bike for Andrew and threw the ball around the yard for Abby.  We went to KidPlex and McDonald's to let the boys get out some energy and Dean even cut Andrew's hair.  Andrew's favorite part was visiting the train depot!

Ballpit!

From there, we headed up to Alpine, Wyoming where we fished, canoed, swam, did the Alpine Slides, and spent the 4th of July at the Jackson rodeo.  We were lucky to stay in the honeymoon suite!

Impossible to get them to both look!

After Alpine, we headed back to Provo to hit up the Provo tubes once more, take the boat out knee boarding on Utah Lake, and meet Haley's new husband, Tim!

Dada swim please!

Then on to Reno where we visited Mike's high school friend, Eric and heard all about his summer wedding!  From there we went home for two days, checked in on the house, garden, and pool and headed right back out.
Ready for lunch

The boys playing peek a boo together. They were happy to be home!

It was 100 degrees at home so we decided to continue on to San Francisco for the weekend. We got a chance to catch up with Dan and Jen and see Dan's parents, Mary Jo and Vern. Mike was able to go to Dan's play and we did a hike out by the beach.

Caleb learned to sit up!
Something about the city...It makes Andrew do yoga poses in front of the window!

We went back home and had grandma Cyndy up to visit the following weekend.  While she was here, we took a trip to the State Fair and did a whole lot of swimming!

Checking out the bald eagle...Maybe more like he is checking them out!

Petting Zoo ~ Andrew loved the goats.

Swimming!

This is how Andrew gets around the pool these days...completely on his own!

Caleb's pretty content in his floatie!

Happy boy!

Checking out the park.

Pool basketball

Holding brother is way easier in the pool.

This week it was too hot for Andrew to sleep upstairs, so we made a little bed in our room.  Abby seemed to like the company on the floor!

On Wednesday, Mike headed back to work and I loaded up the boys to continue on to Oregon for my cousin's wedding!

Mike and Bri had a beautiful wedding on the golf course!

Dan was doing his best to keep Andrew entertained...

We were all hoping Jen would catch the bouquet, but another girl pushed her out of the way...Guess she will just have to wait!

We had a wonderful summer and could definitely use some more time off, but appreciated every moment of it!  We were so happy to be able to spend our summer with family and friends and can't thank them enough for the hospitality!
