Older Brother

When Mike and I were planning our family, we thought it would be great to have our kids close in age.  We were so excited to find out we were pregnant with a second boy so that Andrew would have a little brother that he loved dearly!  As it turns out, being an older brother is a little more difficult than Andrew ever expected and he has been slow to make the transition.  Every day we work with Andrew on being a great older brother, teaching him how to share his toys and play alongside Caleb.   There has been a whole lot of hitting, pushing, and bullying and Andrew just loves running into Caleb with his ride on toys.  However, we are beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel.  More and more they are playing together, sharing, and of course getting into trouble together.  I can already tell that raising two boys is going to be quite the adventure!
Some of the very sweet things I have witnessed:
~ Andrew and Caleb share a room.  We have a video monitor that I use to secretly spy on the boys at all hours.  Every morning, I hear Andrew singing "The Wheels on the Bus" to Caleb.
~The other day, Andrew was patiently showing Brother how to put trinkets in the little ride on car.
~Andrew and Caleb nap at opposite times of the day.  When Caleb wakes up, Andrew says, "What's dat?  Oh, it's Brugger, I'll go check on him."  Off Andrew goes to Caleb's room to check.
~Caleb fell off his Thomas ride on toy and hit his head on the table.  Andrew ran up to him and gave him a kiss on the head and said ,"Does that feel better?"
~Caleb loves sliding at the park, but doesn't land so well.  Andrew is always there with his hands out waiting to catch him at the end.
~Andrew and Caleb have recently discovered that they can have fun playing together in the laundy basket.
~When we go upstairs for bath and bed, Andrew always goes ahead and calls Brother, waiting for him at the top.  Usually Andrew makes Caleb crawl over his arms or under his legs to get by at the very top.

Here are a few pictures from January of the boys together.
