A Trip to the Snow!

On Saturday we decided to take a trip up to the snow since Jen and Dan were visiting from San Francisco.  We stopped and got sandwiches for lunch and were on our way.  This trip was even more special because it was Andrew's first time to play in the snow.  We went up the hill toward Tahoe to Ice House Resevoir and it was a gorgeous day. It was wonderful to have some quality time with Jen and Dan.

We hiked beside the lake and had a nice little picnic lunch at the campground there followed by some fun in the snow!  Here is the progression of Mike throwing Andrew and I into the snow.  Abby was very excited to get away on our snow adventure as well.

We thought it would be good to let Andrew eat a little snow.  At first, he seemed to think it was a little cold as you can tell from his face, but he wanted more so he must have liked it! We took a little blanket and he was able to sit on that so that he wasn't directly in the snow.

Taking a baby to the snow isn't as great as one would think.  Andrew was bundled up like the boy from A Christmas Story to stay warm and dry and he wasn't very happy about not being able to crawl around (or move for that matter).  He did seem a bit happier once we replaced the full body snowsuit with just the snow jacket.  A trip to the snow would not be complete without Mike tossing Andrew around a little!

We decided to end the day with a sunset drive over Big Hill Lookout and a little four wheel action! Mike loves to scare me and gets the Landcruiser nearly stuck every time we go to the snow.  I always have a heart attack while stuck, thinking that we are going to be stranded forever, but somehow Mike always seems to get us out successfully!
