College Bound

Yes, we might be just a tad on the early side, but we decided to take Andrew on his second and Caleb on his first college road trip to San Jose, Stanford, and San Francisco State.  Mike's high school AVID program does an overnight field trip for the junior class every year to check out college campuses.  Last year, Andrew and I accompanied him to Monterey State, UC Santa Cruz, and .  At the end of the trip, we were lucky enough to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  Here are some pictures of Andrew enjoying the aquarium from last year's trip.  He really liked the animals that swam right next to the window and he loved the playground in the toddler area.  He was going down the slide head first by himself!  Pretty impressive for thirteen months!

Anyway, on to this year...the trip was actually a little more challenging with two kids!  This is something that we are often finding out.  Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take the carseats on the bus, which turned out to be a huge disaster.  Although we had gotten the boys up early, we had planned on them sleeping on the bus...but that was not going to happen without carseats!  Instead, Andrew had a super time looking out the window.  He was loving every truck, car, bus, and construction site we drove by.
Please take note that they were not sleeping!  We went on our first college tour at San Jose and then headed to Stanford.  This was about the time the boys started to lose it.  I decided to stay in the visitor center with Caleb, who finally took and nap and Mike took Andrew on the tour.  Here we are enjoying the college grounds!

That night, we had quite the evening with two grumpy boys.  Mike and I made the decision to get take out and enjoy an evening in with two crying children!  Luckily, a good night's sleep is what everyone needed and we were all bright and cheery the next morning for our San Francisco tour.
After the tours, we all got to visit the Exploratorium.  What a fun place for Andrew to experiment with balls, air, light, water, and anything else you can imagine!  My favorite was the light screen!
Andrew's favorite was the ball blower, the magnetic washers, and the slinky belt.  Here are the boys checking out the experiments.
After all these college tours, Caleb says that he is definitely college bound!
