San Francisco Anniversary

This year, on September 30th, Mike and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary.  It seems like just yesterday we were preparing ourselves for the big day.  Our Wyoming wedding was perfect in every way and we just love remembering all the details every year on our anniversary.  Here is a little slideshow I put together from the wedding.

And here are some pictures I dusted off from the closet...

Now back to this year! Mike arranged for Jen to babysit the boys so that we could go sailing in the San Francisco Bay.
I was so excited as I had never done anything like this before.  We had the WHOLE day to ourselves (Thank you to Jen and Becca) to relax and enjoy each other's company.  We started off by riding the bus down to Pier 39.
We did a little stroll down the pier holding hands!  Usually we are pushing strollers and unable to do this, so we definitely took advantage!  Then, we boarded the boat for our sailing excursion.
The boat was only 36 feet long, which is pretty small considering the setting.  The bartender (named Caleb) offered us beverages and I promptly spilled my Chardonnay all over myself, Mike, and the bartender.  Honestly, the boat was moving way more than we expected.  The waves were crashing into us, spraying us with water and the wind was tilting the boat to such an angle that we had to hold on just to stay aboard!  I was trying to hold my wine in one hand, the camera in the other, and hold on all at the same time!  Let's just say the camera had to go.  Therefore, I don't have any pictures of us actually sailing, but that's just because I wanted to enjoy the experience and not end up in the water.

We had a very romantic journey around Alcatraz and along the Golden Gate bridge and then headed back.
Afterward, we found a local Thai food restaurant and enjoyed some eggplant, tofu, and rice noodle curry (with chicken and shrimp). Yum!!! As we walked home, we discussed whether or not the boys noticed we were gone. I guess Jen and Becca kept them happy, because they hadn't even asked about us the whole day. As much as we enjoyed our day away, we were happy to see the boys that evening!!!

Oh yeah, one more side note...we did take the boys to the park in the morning and had some fun swinging as a family!

Okay, now for the good stuff!  This year, many people asked us, "Does it feel like it's been six years?"  Well, Mike and I discussed this and the answer is, Yes! It does feel like six years when you think about all that we have accomplished since being married.  Just to list a few things: we adopted Abby and Bijou, moved from Stockton to Shingle and bought our first house, had two children, taught for four years, and counseled for six years!  We have also had the chance to travel a ton!  We flew to Hawaii three times (one honeymoon and two babymoons), cruised to Alaska, drove to Lake Powell twice (to houseboat and camp),  and drove to Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, and many states in between for our annual summer roadtrip.  In addition, we have been through difficult times including losing Mike's dad four years ago, being on bedrest for two months during pregnancy, and watching my parents go through a divorce.  So, yes, it does feel like it has been six years, but it also feels like the years have flown by! We both feel incredibly fortunate to have spent the past six years as very best friends and love one another with all of our hearts! So here's to many more years of being happily married!!!
